PIANO RESTORATION:
Replacing, repairing, and refurbishing
any parts that may be damaged, deteriorated, or in unusable condition
and making every effort to address the piano as a complete instrument
— both musically and cosmetically.
|
Restoration procedures may include:
-
installing a pinblock,
-
replacing all strings, tuning pins, and string
felt,
-
refinishing
harp, and
-
restoration or replacement of soundboard and bridges.
|
|
|
|
Refurbishment of the piano's inner
workings will require:
-
replacement or refelting of many of its moving parts,
-
cleaning
or recovering keytops, and
-
regulating and tuning throughout the restoration process.

Refinishing of the case would be the most
involved procedure related to the appearance, or cosmetics, of the
piano. Stripping of the old finish will be
required. Then, it will be sanded, stained, sealed, and topcoated with
clear or black lacquer finish. The desired degree
of shine is achieved by hand rubbing the final coats. The pedals,
hinges, screws, and other related hardware will be polished or replated. |
